US tariff refunds to importers hit $100B and counting

The Trump administration has returned about $100 billion in tariffs that it collected before the Supreme Court deemed them unlawful, according to a filing at the U.S. Court of International Trade. That's about 60% of the total paid by importers. Customs and Border Protection is handling hundreds of thousands of claims and has approved nearly $129 billion in refunds. The White House has since implemented new tariffs, using a different legal justification, which are also being challenged in court.
